HOW IT ALL BEGAN
In 2022, Pastor Hendrik Van Deventer and his family answered the call to establish a church centred around Jesus. Small gatherings began in November of that year in the living room of Pastor Hendrik’s home in Linden, Johannesburg.
Soon this space was outgrown, and in February of 2023, the church started gathering at Pinnacle College, Linden and embraced the name Vida, which is derived from Latin, meaning “life”. Since then, we have witnessed the Lord’s favor upon Vida Church as we continue to grow.
OUR VISION
Is rooted in Zechariah 11:16, guiding us to care for the sick, seek out the young, heal the broken-hearted,
and feed the healthy.
We are deeply passionate about missions, aspiring always to be a sending church (Matthew 28:19-20).
We love hosting missionaries and getting to hear their crazy God-stories.
Jesus is our leader, our founder, and the One we worship.

What Do We Believe?
We are a Non-Denominational Church believing in:
- God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
- Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, was crucified, died, and buried.
- He rose on the third day, ascended to heaven, and will return to judge the living and the dead.
- The moving and filling of the Holy Spirit in believers’ lives, enabling them to walk in their spiritual gifts.
- The Bible as the inspired, authoritative, living and eternally reliable Word of God equally in all parts, without error in its original manuscript, and it is our primary and authoritative source of revelation from God.
- The universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
- Making disciples, baptising and teaching all that Jesus instructed us to do (Matt 28:19-20).

MEET THE TEAM
Hendrik and Marga Van Deventer serve together as the founding leaders of Vida church. Hendrik is the senior pastor and preacher at Vida. Marga leads Vida Kids children’s ministry.
Tehillah Roux serves as an assistant pastor. She is responsible for administration, preaching, and our youth ministry.
Sheldon and Monya Van Wyk lead worship, serving as the worship leaders along other worshippers here at Vida!
Dewet van Heerden serves as our next-gen assistant and helps with youth, young adults, hosting of mission teams, and Sunday gatherings.
